PROGRAMS & PROJECTS.

PCCR operates in Gasabo District in the City of Kigali and Ngoma District in Eastern Province with expansion plan to other Districts of Rwanda.

Parenting
Education

Parenting Child Care Rwanda (PCCR) trains members of families on positive parenting through parent groups and home visitation. We do this through: - Parent Groups: Small groups meet to learn about child development and share parenting tips. - Classes at ECD Centers: We teach parents whose children attend early childhood development centers. - Home Visits: We visit families to provide personalized parenting advice.

Early Childhood
Development

The ECD project implemented by PCCR intends to increase access to quality early childhood services through establishment of ECD centers and home based ECD. - We build classrooms at schools: These classrooms provide a safe and fun learning environment for children ages 3-6. - We support home-based learning: We help families create learning spaces for younger children in their homes. - We train teachers and caregivers: We teach adults how to best care for and educate young children. - We provide learning materials: We give children toys, books, and other things they need to learn and grow. This helps children learn to read, play, and develop important skills for the future.

Nutrition

To combat child malnutrition, we empower local communities to cultivate healthy food. We support the establishment of community gardens where families can grow nutritious vegetables and fruits. We organize cooking demonstrations, provide resources like chickens for egg production and essential cooking equipment, and train parents on utilizing locally available foods to prepare nutritious meals.

Community Empowerment

To increase household income, we established the Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) program within local communities. We provide training to VSLA members on effective savings and loaning practices, and we support them in developing and implementing income-generating projects. Additionally, we assist Early Childhood Development (ECD) centers in developing and implementing income-generating projects tailored to the specific needs and resources of each community.
